Are you a new reader on this blog?

We are following a plan to read through the bible in one year. you don't have to worry if you fall behind or if you are starting late. Start at the beginning or, if you already started, pick up where you left off and follow along.
People just starting this goal often get bogged down in details, go slow, and eventually quit because it's to hard to reach the end. Remember that it doesn't have to be in one year. When you fall behind just keep going. As you get used to reading you will find yourself going faster and farther and may even catch up.
The first time I did this it took me over 18 months. The last time it took just over 2 months. This time I'm pacing myself to 1 year so others can follow along. Join the quest

Genesis chapters 12-16

Beginning the story of Abraham

God's message to me: Even the most dangerous situation is an opportunity for God to bless me and improve my situation. I don't need to claim the best at the expense of others, God will turn the sand to soil and the lead to gold. Go where God wants and you will prosper in His name.

Promises: Obey God's command and you will receive his blessing.

Commands: Bless Israel. God made a blood covenant with Abraham and that covenant can never be broken. The children of Israel are God's chosen people and should be supported always. Failure to do so brings a curse.

Timeless principles: In order to bless you, God will often take you out of your comfort zone.

How can I apply what I've learned: "I will bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you" this message from God would be a warning to all. With the fighting in the Gaza strip and the threats from Hamas in Lebanon, are you on the winning side of the argument?

more to learn for in-depth study: This is an extension of the information to be gained in the last section. Now we see where some of those new found nations went and how they acted. The breakdown of that information should be ready this afternoon for another entry.

  1. I will always be a friend to Israel, as we should be. The Jewish people are God's chosen people, we who were grafted in also share in that. We are also God's chosen people because we are adopted Jews. I don't think those against Israel will want the wrath of God on them. I wouldn't want that, that's for sure! Great study!

  2. Over the years we have had a number of administrations that did not support Israel. Land for peace deals are not in Israels interests and Pushing for them puts the US on the wrong side. Our incoming president was been quite clear on his support for Palestine and his criticism of Israel. 20+ years with an anti-Semite for a preacher will do that to you.
The current war in Gaza has gotten plenty of press but the only pro-Israel coverage I have seen is on Fox. Every other broadcast I have seen has basically repeated press releases from Hamas and pro-Palestine groups. It's easy to forget the real situation when 90% of the press tells you that Israel is the aggressive tyrant.

  3. That is so wrong too... God gave Israel that land and Palestine should not be trying to take it away from them. Yeah, Israel is a tyrant for defending itself... sad that the press is so slanted.

  4. There is a hidden history here that many are working hard to keep hidden.

"Palestinians" originate from all over the Arab states and even Europe. Political undesirables were dumped in what had been a wasteland by the Ottoman empire. Europeans came looking for work during famines, WWI market problems etc... Even the depression drove some to go there. They worked for Zionist Jews to reclaim the land that had been blighted by Roman Tactics such as "Salting the fields." This was a tactic of seeding fields with large and small stones so thoroughly that farming became to difficult to be worthwhile.

Many "Palestinians" immigrated back to their homelands or ancestral homes. Some moved to Jordan and Syria. Quite a few became "Arab Israelis" living withing the Israeli system, benefiting from the culture, laws and programs of the government and even being given voting privileges as naturalized citizens. They live and work with Jewish neighbors as happy citizens.

The "Palestinians" demanding a separate state and working toward the destruction of Israel are doing so as a matter of tradition. Many have done it for generations since before Israel became a nation. Many more have immigrated to the region to join in the fight. Few if any are native to the region as the region was, as I mentioned, a wasteland before the Zionists began their work to reclaim the land and make it habitable.
